"Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step."- Mariska Hargitay
Hello! My name is Savana. I have a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and I am a licensed social worker here in Illinois. I believe in a person-centered approach to therapy and emphasize the importance of collaboration to strengthen the therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide a space where clients feel safe, understood and accepted. My social work career began as a therapist in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, where I received extensive experience in working with individuals with high acuity, including suicidality, self-harm, psychosis, trauma, and substance use. During this time, I assisted in developing a program that specialized in supporting women with a history of trauma through process groups and learning DBT-based coping skills. I have experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults. I work alongside parents and caregivers to support challenges at home and strengthen communication. Together, we will work to find attainable goals and learn coping skills while tolerating painful emotions. I bring a multicultural perspective to my work and commit to creating an inclusive space for all. Your story is important, and I am honored to share this space of healing with you.
