LCSW
Hi, I'm Rachel! My goal in therapy is to provide you with a strong, stable sense of self as well as the tools and confidence to live more honestly in relationship with others. I believe our relationships are the marrow of life; when we feel connected and known by others, life feels at its best.
I am a strengths-based, client-centered therapist. But what does that really mean? Ultimately, I believe that you are going to bring unique gifts and challenges to the table. I will prioritize working with you in a way that best fits these gifts while also matching my approach to your own personality and goals.
Beyond this, I am also an insight-oriented therapist. I draw heavily on my psychoanalytic training, so sessions with me will often involve exploring hidden parts of yourself that may be affecting your day to day life. I believe that insight itself can be liberating and can offer us the opportunity to challenge and restructure beliefs and narratives--and ultimately improve our happiness and connection to others. However, like many modern therapists, my approach is integrative, meaning I will pull from other modalities when and where appropriate, most notably internal family systems, attachment theory, and mindfulness.
I see primarily emerging adults, adults, and couples and have a passion for working with male-identifying clients around emotional vulnerability and relationship challenges as well as with individuals struggling with infidelity.
I hail from the rural Midwest. I have a PhD in social policy, and I teach college-level research and policy. I have lived overseas, am an avid cyclist, and enjoy being dead weight on trivia teams.
I look forward to working with you.
