Anthony Murphy
LPC
I’m a therapist who enjoys helping people step back and make sense of their lives — where they’ve been, where they are now, and where they may want to go next. I work with adults and teens who are open to reflecting on their experiences, exploring what gives their lives meaning and direction, and finding a clearer sense of purpose. Many of the people I work with feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how the pieces of their life fit together, but they are curious and willing to explore.
In therapy, I help clients slow down and understand their experiences more deeply. Together we explore patterns, relationships, and formative moments that have shaped how they see themselves and the world. My work often includes themes related to anxiety, identity, relationships, purpose, and the lingering effects of difficult or painful experiences. While we may explore the past, the goal is always to help you move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and self-understanding.
My approach is relational, thoughtful, and grounded. I tend to blend deeper reflection with practical conversation about everyday life. At times therapy may feel exploratory and reflective; at other times it may be more structured and focused on building skills or navigating specific challenges. I also believe that many therapeutic ideas and terms can feel confusing or overused, so I try to define concepts clearly and keep our conversations grounded and accessible.
For clients who desire it, I’m also comfortable exploring questions of faith, spirituality, and meaning as they relate to mental health and personal growth.
Ultimately, I view therapy as a collaborative process. The counseling room is a place where you can think openly, ask questions, and experiment with new ways of understanding yourself and your life. My role is to walk alongside you — helping you notice patterns, recognize strengths, and move toward a life that feels more coherent, meaningful, and aligned with who you are.
I was born and raised in Chicago and now live in Pilsen with my wife and our dog. Outside of therapy I enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, coffee, and researching interesting topics. Whether you come in with clear goals or simply a sense that something isn’t quite adding up, I look forward to exploring the journey with you.
